If you loved Defender and Stargate in the early 1980s, you might like Space Swift. The gameplay is simplified due to the touch screen controls, but one of the biggest problems with Defender/Stargate was overly complicated controls. Flying and shooting with the touchscreen is interesting and takes some getting used to. Press and hold with the side you want to move away from, and tap the other side of the screen with your thumb to shoot. Now try to see through your thumbs. Fun times! Gameplay and graphics are different enough from Defender to avoid lawsuits from Bally/Williams, or whoever owns the IP to Defender, probably, but the game has an authentic vibe that makes it feel like a worthy sequel to the classics. Your ship has headlights, an interesting innovation, but it seems to have little impact on gameplay, and there are meteor showers which are fun, but there doesn't seem to be a "save the humans" mechanic in this game, which was what Defender was all about. I would like to see this game add AT-AT style walkers at some point, as in the Atari 2600 game The Empire Strikes Back.

Sorry that I like eating bread. Summer is coming, so I promise that I will try to switch to photosynthesis :)

Very nice fast paced game! Since there is not much to do other than trying to beat your score, it can be a nice time waster. More stuff to engage players might be a nice thing to add later on. Although I started to get used to them pretty quickly, controls seemed a little weird. You can't shoot without moving, which resulted in me smashing myself to the enemies most of the time. Seems like a hard to master system for me.

You can move at different speeds and you can shoot while standing in place. Cheers!
